In the Middle

Addictive Effect

I listen to a podcast from the “spartan” man, interviewing some billionaire I’ve never heard of, when he comments about having an addictive personality–and it is a good thing.

Always one to take personality tests, the new one being the enneagram. I am a solid ‘7’ (after taking three tests from different free enneagram sites). This personality type has its benefits–being carefree and impulsive and a half-glass full mentality. But, one of the negatives, is the fact that this personality type is prone to addictions.

I can’t say I’d ever heard such a thing about addictive personalities being a positive attribute.

Mind blowing, BAM!

I mean, I agree wholeheartedly on the addictive part, because when I take on something, anything I enjoy that is, I tend to go overboard. And before time, there is often a problem.

But, what if this shift in perspective, instead of always looking at addictive and addiction as a negative, instead look too at its positives?

Today’s podcast also mentions the familiar “butterfly effect” phenomenon– that one small shift can make a world of difference.

This is my shift.

So today, instead of solely looking for its negativeness, like when one drinks too much, spends too much, or excessive in many areas that only brings one down or causes trouble, I will look at some positives–

Like running more, reading more, writing more— affecting more in any area that benefits me and my health, and others in my life.
